Bless Us with Light to Understand
I don't know about you, but it has always bothered me when the bible says, "If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves and the truth is not in us. That part is easy to understand. I John 1:8 and
Paul says he was the worst of sinners. Then in I John 3:9
it says "Whosoever is born of GOD does not commit sin; for His Seed remains in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of GOD." WHAT? That has been troubling to me. Because I do commit sin often when I entertain unloving thoughts toward others. Samuel said, "If I fail to pray for you, I sin." One more: I John 5:17, 18 says "All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. We know that whosoever is born of GOD sins not; but he that is born of GOD keeps himself, and that wicked one (the devil)
does not touch him."
I finally have an understanding of what these mean. Yes, we as Christians do sin, but we cannot "commit sin." I studied this out, and it means, we cannot "abide in sin;" we cannot "continue in that sin without
strong conviction that makes us miserable and
brings us to repentance."
I hope this helps someone else to understand this better. The Lord bless us with light to understand, with grace to know, and wisdom to take heed, and faith to walk in it in Jesus' Name, Amen.
