Delight in Doing His Will
The only way I personally have found to get victory in my life over something trying to take me down and overcome me, such as fretting; fear; thinking on negative, etc. is to keep Scripture verses around me (even ON me) at all times. My husband gets tickled because I write them on my hand quite often, or write them on post its, or index cards and put them by the kitchen sink, bathroom mirror and other places I see often. I will name some verses off the top of my head for different things I have faced through the years, and how I got the victory just by doing this.
First, it was overcoming smoking three years after I was born again. I kept these verses before me while I was smoking until their impact overcame me. Good for any addiction: "For it is better if the will of GOD be so, to suffer for doing good, rather than to suffer for doing wrong"; "All unrighteousness is sin"; (then when GOD dealt with me harder to quit because when He was calling me to is to set people free, but I had to be free myself if I could help them fully. This was the last verse He gave me that caused me to put them away:) "Go and sin no more lest a worst thing come upon you."
Fretting: "Fret not thyself because of evil doers;" "Fret not yourself, it only causes harm" (which it does to your health.) Be anxious for nothing, but in everything, by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your request be made known unto GOD, then the peace of GOD which passes all understanding will guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus"; "Humble yourself under the mighty Hand of GOD, casting alllll your cares over on Jesus because He cares for you."
Anger: "Be quick to hear, slow to speak, and slow to wrath." "Do not associate with a person given to anger, lest you learn their ways"; "Love is not soon angry"; "Anger does not produce the righteousness of GOD"; "Love is patient; Love is kind."
Being critical: Jesus said, "If the same mighty acts that were done in you had been done in them, they would have repented long ago." Isaiah 58 "If you will stop pointing your finger, but reach out your hand to help instead, your healing will spring forth speedily" ; "What have you got that you did not receive?" "Great peace have they that love Your law O Lord, and nothing shall offend them."
Gossip: "A tale bearer's words go in to the innermost parts of your belly." That's why we get knots in our stomach when we speak badly of people or to them. "He who repeats a matter separates the best of friends; but he who seeks love, covers (hides) a multitude of sins."
Talking about myself, or my achievements: "He who speaks of himself seeks his own glory; but He who seeks the glory of Him who sent him, the same is true and no unrighteousness is in him"; "Give unto the Lord the glory due His Name"; "GOD will not share His glory with another."
Complaining: "Serve the Lord with gladness"; "Do all things without murmuring, or complaining"; GOD was angry with them in the desert for their complaining, and He wiped them out in one big swoop. Hebrews 4 says we cannot enter into His "rest" while in disobedience, and unbelief (which is disobedience.)
Lust: "Without peace and holiness, no man shall see GOD." (We can't possibly have peace when we are not walking in purity! Good news is, We can't possibly walk in holiness without having perfect peace. Amen)
Forgiveness: "For if you do not forgive men their trespasses, neither will your Heavenly Father forgive yours; but if you forgive them, your Heavenly Father will forgive you." Paul taught Timothy many valuable lessons: one was, "And if anyone has wronged you, put that on my account." I needed to forgive, and when I read that it hit me between the eyes as I realized, I needed to put that on Christ account, but I couldn't because my sins were enough on Him, so I dropped it... it was forgiven and forgotten at that very moment.
These are just from the top of my head, so don't rely on me, because there are so many other verses that can help you in the Bible. David in Psalms went through what we do also, and he said, "I hide GOD's Word in my heart so I might not sin against Him."
The Lord bless your heart, and strengthen us to delight in doing His will.
