Detachment Disorder

Our dog Katie has lived with us ever since her previous owners moved away about 10 yrs. ago, and left her in their backyard on a chain with her puppies. Katie also nursed two kittens, along with her own pups. The pups got good homes, then Katie and her kittens came to our house. They're all still here: Katie, Kibbles, and Squeaky. Now, when Katie came to our house, I would try to play with her, and she didn't know how to take it and would tuck tail and run and get underneath the dining room table. It took a good 6 months before she would let me teach her how to play with a toy. She still to this day will not play with one that squeaks, for some reason. Katie won't let us touch her ears, nor her feet, or her face. It hurts us that she still will not let us be too close with her. It's called, "detachment disorder:" where they avoid physical touch at all costs, because they've been abused, and they think touch means pain. The youngest child I ever met with symptoms of detachment disorder, was a little 2 year old boy at the children's home, whom I couldn't get to even look me in the eye. It was the saddest thing.
I thought of many people in the Bible who may have had detachment disorder; like the man who lived in the cave who called himself "Legion." Who knows how his life started out! Then I thought of Mary Magdalene who only went to the well to draw water at the hottest part of the day when all the other women had left; because this Mary had the reputation of being a "woman of ill repute:" who had been married "five times," and was shacking with the man she was with now. Jesus made an effort to meet this same woman at the well, and revealed Who He was, cleansed her and saved her on the spot; then Mary went from being a woman fearful of other's reactions, fearful of being around them, to going and boldly proclaiming the news of the great and mighty King of kings she had met that day. Since her fear was traded for loving people, the Bible says, she won
many in the city to Jesus. (John 4:39)
You may be one who has been hurt, abused, rejected, even worse, abandoned as a child. You may have lacked being nurtured and coddled, and /or you didn't feel protected growing up, and so you may keep yourself from getting attached to anyone; that way you think you won't get hurt. Truth is, you are hurting yourself by walking in fear, instead of love. You may be one who protects yourself with your anger. In first John, GOD tells us in His Word, "Perfect love casts out all fear." GOD is perfect love. He also tells us, "He who fears cannot be made perfect in love."
Father, I pray for the one reading this: Lord, David said he sought You and You heard him, and You delivered him from all his fears. I ask that You teach this dear reader to seek Your Face and Your Heart in Your Word, and through prayer until You teach him/her to love others and not fear what others think about them, but only care what You think. To not fear rejection, but only fear rejecting someone You want them to reach out to in the love of GOD. I pray You heal their wounded spirit and broken heart, and mend that which has been torn. I also ask You Father GOD to restore to them all the green, the life the devil has stolen from them, maybe even from infancy, in Jesus' mighty Name, Amen.
Jesus said in John 4:14 "But whosoever drinks of the water (the Word of GOD) that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water
springing up into everlasting life."
