He Stands Over His Word

When I hear somebody sigh, "Life is hard!" I am always tempted to ask, "Compared to what?" -Sydney J. Harris
When I was a teenager, a doctor told me I wouldn't live to be 40 years old. When I was even younger, our family doctor told me that with my asthma like it was, "If you ever get pneumonia once, you won't live through it." he said. I've had pneumonia twice, and I'm alive and well, thank the Lord.
Someone once said, “Anyone can get old; all you have to do is live long enough.”
A man asked the young ladies’ grandfather for her hand in marriage. This was the grandfather’s reply toward the end of their conversation: “Do you want to live a long life or a short one?” Then he added, “Take good care of my Princess, and you will live a long life.”
I was almost 30 and time was running out (so I thought.) I worked out at "President First Lady's"(a gym) every day after work, and didn't have an ounce of fat on me. I had met the Lord and He gave me a passion to read His Word, and unlocked it to me so I would finally understand what it said. It was then, despite my poor health, I began to see Verses in there that addressed my wrong beliefs of living a short life. I was shocked to see there were more verses that spoke about what words the tongue spoke, than it did about what the tongue ate. These are the verses (not mentioning the Levitical Law right now) that really have helped me along my journey. In Psalm 103, He tells us "He satisfies our mouth with good things that the strength of our youth be renewed". In Ecclesiastes, I love this where He tells us they ate in 3 ways: "For strength, at the proper time, and
not to over-satisfy."
1 Timothy 4:8 For bodily exercise profiteth little: but godliness is profitable unto all things, having promise of the life that now is, and of that which is to come.
Psalm 34:11 Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord. 12 Who is the man who desires life, and loves many days, that he may see good? 13 Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. 14 Depart from evil and do good; Seek peace and pursue it. 5 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous, and His ears are open to their cry.
The Lord tells us in Psalm 91:14 “Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name. 15 He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. 16 With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation.”
These Verses have helped me tremendously, as the devil has tried to wipe me out all my life. He seeks to steal, kill, and destroy all he can, early. We must know His Word and speak it over our lives, for "He stands over His Word, ready to perform it." Blessings on you today in the powerful Name of Jesus! Speak His Name all you can today. Amen.
