He Will Hear My Voice
"As for me, I will call upon GOD, and the Lord will save me. Evening and morning and at noon I will pray, and cry aloud, and He will hear my voice. He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me. For there were many against me. GOD will hear, and afflict them, even He Who abides from of old; because they do not change. For that reason, they do not fear GOD." That was taken from Psalm 55:16-19
My husband has this saying: "When your preaching is right, it's like when Stephen was preaching. It gives you two choices: either get right with GOD, or get rid of the Preacher."
While we're ministering at the jail, I've often wondered why most of the inmates love to hear when we tell about "The woman at the well meets The Man at the well;" or when we share the story of one of the blind men being healed of Jesus because of His great big loving heart of compassion" and they will be most receptive, and join in the conversation about things they have experienced along these lines. But, most all of them shut down; that is, stop their ears when we go from talking about the "Compassionate Jesus" to talking about the "Serious Jesus" when He says, "Repent and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord." When I was a young Christian, the Lord said in my spirit while I was sound asleep, "It is time you either believe all of My Word, OR NONE." It startled me b/c I didn't realize I was picking and choosing the Verses I liked, and tossing out the rest; but His Words are not a vegetable patch. Lord, help us to see the error of our ways, so we can learn from it and grow by it. Thank You that You not only comfort us, encourage us, and bless us with uplifting Words, but You also bless us with wake-up calls, and exhortations we need in order to keep from hurting ourselves and others, in Jesus' Name, Amen.
