Psalma Mama aka Dawn Gwin
Just a Minute Lord
When we call our dog, Katy in from outside, she completely ignores us if we are not calling in her convenience. If she doesn't want to come in, we have to finally put a leash on her to make her come in; yet, when we're in the house reading, writing, praying, on the phone, or on the computer, she has this one annoying bark that means, "I want to come in NOW!" It doesn't matter what is convenient for us, if she decides she wants to come in NOW, she will do that annoying bark one time, wait a few seconds and do it again. She will do this over and over until either my husband or I stop what we're doing to go let her in, or else one of us goes and tells her she's not coming in right now, and to "Stop barking." Once in a while that works and she'll busy herself.
We can sometimes be like Katy with our Lord, can’t we? He calls us to drop what we’re doing right now and seize the opportunity. We might say by our actions, “Just a minute Lord” either that, or GOD forbid that we turn a deaf ear to Him completely. Then, when we need His help and assistance, we are ready to obey right NOW, only because we want GOD to act right NOW. That is not loving GOD with all our heart, mind, and soul, is it?
Psalm 32:8-10 “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will guide you with My eye. (Note: If you have children, you know what it means to guide them with your eye. I could be singing in the Church choir and look out and see one of my children and let them know really quick by the look in my eye, whether or not I was approving or else disproving of their behavior. That’s the closeness GOD wants with us.) He said, “Do not be like the horse or like the mule, which have no understanding, which must be harnessed with bit and bridle, or they will not come near to you. Many sorrows shall be to the wicked; but he who trusts in the Lord, mercy shall surround him.
I don’t want to be to GOD, like Katy is to us when He calls me to do or not do. If He wants me to talk to someone, or stop doing something, and I think “it’s not a convenient time,” may my love be stronger than my old fleshly will. Thy kingdom come Lord, Thy will be done in the earth core of my being, as it is in Heaven, in Jesus’ Name, so I will love You enough to follow Your leading right NOW.
