Let us not Forget to be Merciful
The Lord brought it to my mind this morning: you know how when your children are around 3-4 years of age you start teaching them how to do a few things on their own, like, you tell them to go make their bed? The first time, you show them. The second time, you help them; or they might say, "I can do it by myself," so we let them. Now they might have one side of the comforter way up here and the other side dragging the floor; but we ask them, "Did you do your best?" And if they said "Yes" then we're not about to crush their spirit by telling them their best isn't good enough.
Now, GOD let us know in the book of James, "Mercy triumphs over judgment." Wow! And in James 2:13 He tells us, whoever shows no mercy "shall have judgment without mercy." Isn't that scary?!
Maybe someone in your life gets on your last nerve, (doesn't make their bed right), and maybe if you asked them "Did you do your best?" they would say, "Nope!" So, what should our response be? "Mercy triumphs over judgment." and the Lord lets us know through His servant James again, in 5:7 "Be patient till Jesus returns in the clouds, and in Verse 8 He tells us to be patient, to establish our hearts, "for the coming of the Lord is near."
The Lord is so kind! He knew we wouldn't make our bed right, and just like He told the church in Philadelphia who weren't doing everything exactly perfect, "You have a little strength, and have kept My Word, and have not denied My Name. (Now this is important) In Revelation 3:10, 11 Jesus said, "Because you have kept the Word of My patience, I will also keep you from the hour of temptation which shall come on all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold fast what you have, do not let any man take your crown." My Christian Brothers and Sisters, let's hold on to the end to our "spirit of power, of love, of a sound mind; and to the love of GOD that has been poured out in our hearts (Romans 5); let us not forget to be merciful, if we want mercy ourselves, and let's believe GOD's report, and not man's, for His truth endures forever.
Now, get in there and make your bed!
