Love Does Not Parade Itself
A Peacock is a male peafowl distinguished by a crest of upright feathers and by greatly elongated loosely webbed upper tail coverts which are mostly tipped with iridescent spots and are erected and spread in a shimmering fan usually as a courtship display. Their very long tail feathers have eye-like markings on each one. I believe the eyes are to remind the peacock himself to keep looking outward to other’s beauty, and not to his own.
Love does not parade itself saying, “Look at me!” or “Listen to me, I’m more important than anyone here.” Love does not behave rudely, does not seeks its own reputation.” I Corinthians 13:4,5
Michel de Montaigne (February 28, 1533 - September 13, 1592) was one of the most significant philosophers of the French Renaissance, known for popularizing the essay as a literary genre. He once said, “When all is summed up, a man never speaks of himself without loss; his accusations of himself are always believed, his praises never.”
Proverbs 27:2 Let another man praise you, and not your own mouth; a stranger, and not your own lips.
Jesus Himself didn't even accept glory or praise on Himself, but always pointed them to GOD the Father John 7:18 He that speaketh of himself seeketh his own glory: but he that seeketh his glory that sent him, the same is true, and no unrighteousness is in him.
"I do not accept glory from human beings,
I am not seeking glory for myself; but there is one who seeks it, and he is the judge.
Jesus replied, "If I glorify myself, my glory means nothing. My Father, whom you claim as your God, is the one who glorifies me.
for they loved human praise more than praise from God.
And those who belong to Christ have put to death (crucified) the flesh with its passions and desires. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:24
(A conceited person has an inflated self-image and perceives himself as incredibly entertaining and wonderful. A conceited person is proud of them self; vain; egotistic.)
Galatians 6:14 But GOD forbid that I should boast except in the Cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by Whom the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.
