Ma and Pa Kettle
Years ago, I ran across a couple of old videos at a pawn shop about a couple called, “Ma & Pa Kettle.” I brought the videos home and got out the VCR, and laughed so hard at this cute little older couple on a farm who were raising about thirteen children.
The Ma goes in to the kitchen, and with one swoop of the arm, shoos all the chickens off the table that came in from the yard. One of Ma’s daughters comes in, and Ma says, “Get over here Laura and set the table.” The girl says, “My name’s not Laura Ma!” HAHAHA! I laughed hard on that part that I didn’t expect. I had less than a handful of kids, and I got their names mixed up too; but I’m so glad our Heavenly Father, even with as many children as He has, does not get our names mixed up. In the book of John, Jesus said, I know My sheep, and they follow Me, and “I call them each by name.” When He calls your name, don’t ignore Him.  O, what a loving Father we have.
In Isaiah 43:1,2 He so lovingly says, “ Fear not: for I have redeemed you, I have called you by your name; you are Mine.
2. When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow you: when you walk through the fire, you shall not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon you, for I AM The Lord thy GOD.
Jesus called His disciples unto Him, and said, Suffer little children to come unto Me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of GOD.  (O, aren’t you glad He didn’t say, “Only those who’ve got it all together can enter in.) Verily I say unto you, Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of GOD as a little child shall in no way enter in there. “Our children depend on us without one thought to what the bills are. Shame on us if we are not letting our children see our dependence on our Heavenly Dad. Why would they want to put their trust in Someone we don’t trust?  Sometimes we fear the unknown, what we can’t see, especially since we feel undeserving of His favor and care because of our faults and failures; but we are already “accepted in The Beloved” He said.
Jehoshaphat's Prayer:
…see how they are rewarding us by coming to drive us out from Your possession which You have given us as an inheritance. 12"O our God, will You not judge them? For we are powerless before this great multitude who are coming against us; nor do we know what to do, but our eyes are on You." 13All Judah was standing before the LORD, with their infants, their wives and their children.
I encourage you to come to your Father today as a little child. Some of us don’t have an earthly Dad anymore. Some of us never did.  Others of us had one or more but no one has been a Father. If you have been born-again, you have a Father Who longs for us to trust Him just like this. “Father, we don’t have it all together. We don’t have any idea what to do here, but You know. Will You guide us please? Thanks in Jesus’ Name, Amen.”
