My husband has always loved mountain-climbing, so I tried to love it too; but after attempting the climb a few times, I finally figured out that just isn't my forte.
Maybe that's why the Lord chose mountain-climbing for the theme of this dream I had one night.
I was giving it my best effort to go up this very sandy mountain full of pebbles. I would go to grab ahold of a rock to help pull myself up, but the rock would come right out and topple to the bottom, and I would slide ...down a ways each time that would happen. I would think that I had made it a few feet finally this time, just to look down and see I was still barely off the ground. I was huffing and puffing, using up all the strength I had to make it this far, when suddenly I heard a familiar voice from way up high. He said, "Hey Honey!" It sounded like it was coming from the mountain next to me, so I looked up, and up, and UP, and there he was... my husband. He was up so high on the mountain, he looked to be about two foot tall. He had all these tools on his belt, and ropes here and there. I thought to myself, "What's up with this? I don't have a rope, a pic, nor a tool one! And why is he climbing that easy mountain that's smooth and straight up, when I'm over here climbing this hard one??!" As I got to looking more realistically though, I saw how difficult his mountain must have been, with nowhere to grab hold on. I wouldn't be able to swing that rope and pic like he had.
I hollered back at him, "Hey! How come you're way up there, and you're climbing that mountain, and I'm climbing this graveled one over here?" He yelled back,
"I'm just climbing the one I was told to climb."
Hmm, isn't that interesting! When I awoke from this dream, I knew there was no way I could get to the middle of that mountain, much less the top, at the rate I was going, and the way I was climbing it. I couldn't climb it without help... A LOT OF HELP!
Dear Reader, Jesus said, "Without Me, you can do nothing." When I was a new Christian, I didn't understand that Verse and told my husband, "I don't get it. I can bake a pie and cook supper without Him." My husband replied, "Not without His breath, or His strength, and without arms, and legs." With my mouth gaping open, I said, "Oooooo, I get it now!" Dear Ones, we need Jesus all the time. When you can't, He can! When you run out of strength, trust in His! When you don't seem to have what it takes to overcome, rely on His overcoming abilities to take over in you; for truly, "Without Jesus, we can do nothing."
