Sorting Through Stuff - Part II

In May 1994, an ad written by Pat Cohen of the Dept. of Consumer Affairs appeared in a F.Y.I. column of a newspaper; the Title: 'Closed for Renovation.' Pat suggests that, "One reason owners put up "Closed for Renovation" signs when they are actually going out of business is that they are "embarrassed about closing." Pat continued, "In fact, the signs are usually a ruse to distract and/or divert creditors. For instance, last fall, a Chelsea restaurant put white paper over its windows on a Friday afternoon with the notice, "Closed for filming" prominently displayed. Come Monday morning, the paper had been removed, along with every piece of furniture and all the equipment in the place. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that the owner sold off what he could before the creditors or the courts moved in."
When I said I was placing a sign on my heart that reads, "Closed for Renovation, pardon the mess," I meant it. After looking the word, "renovation" up in the Webster's, I then decided to Google it. Upon doing this, I found a peculiar story online called, "Signs of Spring: Renovating: A strange House and It's a Strange Story." This story was written by a man named, Nancy Hass. I will spare you the whole story, but in it, Hass talks about "renovation" meaning: to be restored "to a harmonious state." In the story, Nancy describes a 19th-century building with clarity, as he went on to say, "It bore the unmistakable signs of a radical renovation, circa 1969”.  A plaque commemorated this event as "The Great Building Crack-Up."
Now, stay with me please my friend, because, believe it or not, I am going somewhere with this. Nancy added, "It looked as though it had been through a bummer of a trip. I just wrote the place off as one of those fantastic artifacts that make New York great," he said. The building sits at 251 W. 13th Street in New York City, and was built in 1887. In the 1960's, an artist bought the 9,000 square foot structure and had it redone -- "some say undone." Also, according to a Mr. Bentley with B Five Studio, "To put it plainly, the construction was shoddy." Nancy Hass states that, "Too much of the original building had been destroyed in the renovation. There was no way, for example, to reconstruct the facade without crushing expense." Another said, "It now strongly evokes its past." Mr. Brown, 69, who now lives in a two-room apartment in Zeckendorf Towers, dismissed the controversy as "another example of how people resist change."

My dear brothers & sisters in Christ, I don't know about you, but I believe GOD is starting from the ground up with us. GOD is doing a new thing, and we have to change with it. GOD rides a swift cloud, and we want to be under it. {He tells us in Revelation 3:2,3 “Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain that are ready to die: for I have not found your works perfect before GOD. Remember therefore how you have received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If you shall not watch for My coming, I will come on you as a thief and you shall not know what hour I will come upon you. Verse 8-11: I know your works: behold, I have set before you an open door, and no man can shut it: for you have a little strength, and have kept My Word, and have not denied My Name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before your feet, and to know that I have loved you. Because you have kept the Word of My patience, I also will keep you from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which you have, that no man take your crown.”
Beloved friend, if you have lost the joy of the Lord, He tells us so sweetly in Revelation 2:5 Remember when it was, you fell, and repent, and do the first works; or else I will come unto you quickly, and will remove your candlestick out of its place (you will not shine in the darkness anymore), unless you repent."

Don't be embarrassed about closing up shop for a while like the story above. I don't, and I believe you don't want to be numbered in the "Great building Crack-Up." If we don't come away now to our "first love", then we will be like the one who "too much of the original building was destroyed in the renovation" and "It strongly evokes its past." We are a chosen generation; a royal priesthood; a holy nation; a peculiar people, to show forth the praises of GOD who has called us out of darkness, into His marvelous light. II Corinthians 5:17 says, "If you then have been risen with Christ, you are a new creation; old things are passed away: behold, all things have become new."

The building I spoke of earlier went on to be restored, despite its critics, doubters, and those who attempted to dress it up and make it "look better" without all the trouble it was worth. JESUS bought you and He bought me, so I guess He thought we were worth the price. The Lord told us, "If the foundations be destroyed, what will the righteous do?" Don’t let the devil, through others, chop away at your foundations dear one. We don't war against flesh and blood. He said, "Love your enemies, praying for those who despitefully use you; pray for those who hurt you; bless those who curse you." Bless them with a gift of your prayers.

I do hope this encourages someone! GOD is using it in my life, so I wanted to share.
Nancy Hass stated that the building looked as if “It had been through a bummer of a trip.”
I don’t know about you dear one, but I sure have been through a “bummer of a trip” the past year, with some major challenges that have brought about such turmoil in my life, I have felt taken over by stronger influences than myself, to give in to fleshly emotions rather than the Holy Spirit. Emotions like, anger; unforgiveness; sadness; anxiety; depression; fretting, and fearing. O GOD, without peace and holiness, You said, no one shall see GOD, so teach us to live peaceable with all man; to let the peace of GOD rule in our heart; to be a peacemaker, not a peace breaker; and Lord, O that I would be beautiful with Your holiness! Amen
