Psalma Mama aka Dawn Gwin
George and I saw a man walking in the cold and asked if he needed a ride. (When we do that, I always get in the back seat, so my back isn't to them.) He got in the van and we noticed his hair wouldn't fit because it was about 2 feet high, very matted and thick; but he managed to get in. He was very thin and frail looking, but I bet he was strong as an ox. We introduced ourselves and asked his name. He said, "I'm Symphony." Immediately I thought to myself, "O Goody, we have another "Legion, for we are many" kind of man here with us today. We asked if he was hungry and he said, "Starving" so we took him to an "All-you-can-eat" chicken place, and that guy went back (no kidding) 5 times. Usually, if someone isn't used to eating often enough, they do good to get their first helping down. Afterward, it was getting dark outside so we asked if we could get him a warm room for the night. After we paid for the room, we went and bought underwear, and some hygiene products, went back to deliver them to his room, and he was GONE, as gone as could be. No one saw him leave except Jesus apparently. We have often wondered about him because I so wanted to do what Jesus did with the man named "Legion;" but was going to let "Symphony" get a good night sleep first. I wished so bad I had realized he was restless because of all the demonic activity inside. It has saddened me that I failed to help the man be free in "Jesus" Name.
Jesus treated people with such love and kindness, except for the hypocrites and religious people who thought they were better because they went strictly by the book. In Mark 5:1-20 The man no longer had control of his life - he was possessed by his demons. We know this from the interchange he had with Jesus who asked him: "What is your name?" "My name is Legion," he replied, "for we are many." The demoniac starts to answer for himself but then the demons take over and finish for him: "We are many." "He was always in the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones." Jesus saw the needs in the man. The man ran to Jesus. He had to have known Jesus wouldn't reject him, but deliver him, help him.
O GOD, that people who are hurting, even desperate, who are being controlled by the powers of darkness, O, that they would run to Jesus in us. Let the lives of Your people be so filled with love and compassion, we just see their needs and immediately confront the one who holds them captive, in Jesus' powerful Name, for they cannot help themselves.
