The Baby Book
There have been many times I have stressed myself needlessly over a decision I thought I had to make, when GOD would let me know deep in my spirit, “You don’t need to make a decision; it has already been made: you just need to ask Me what I have planned, then listen My darling child to what it is.”
I don’t know about you, but I had a thing about “Baby books.” I loved writing in them. Before my husband and I married, he was raising his two daughters, who became our daughters when the youngest had just turned fourteen, and the oldest was about to be sixteen years old. I sure wished I could have known them when they were small so I could have written in their book.
My youngest son came in to a room where I was writing one day and just stood by me for a minute; then when I looked up, he asked, “Mom, when are you ever going to stop writing in my “baby” book? You DO know I am seventeen years old don’t you? I’m not a baby anymore?” Well, I couldn’t help it. He would say and do such funny things, I knew I wouldn’t remember them all, so I wrote them down.
You want to know something really SWEET? GOD has been keeping a “Baby Book” on you since before you were born. Psalm 139:15-16 My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place. When I was woven together in the depths of the earth, Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in Your book before one of them came to be."
GOD put a whole lot of thought into forming and fashioning you! How could He not love you? Verse 17 says that His “Thoughts” toward you are “precious” and “how great is the number of them.” You may have been thinking His Thoughts toward you are, “When is this child EVER going to get it?” or, “Here they are again, talking to Me about the same old thing.” No, that isn’t true: the next verse says His thoughts toward us “outnumber the sand.” And don’t forget, all of His Thoughts “are precious” unto you. He is the Lover of your soul.
We have a GOD Who is that personal with us: “For in Him we live, and move, and have our being (Acts 17:28). How can you run from a GOD Who loves you like that? Instead, why not run TO Him? After all, He is the God Who is, “declaring the end from the beginning and from ancient times the things that are not yet done” Isaiah 46:9-10.
I will close with the Words of GOD Himself: “Ask Me of things to come concerning My sons, and concerning the work of My Hands command you Me. I have made the earth and created man upon it: I, even My Hands have stretched out the heavens; and all their host have I commanded. I, even I AM the Lord: and beside Me there is no savior. I have declared, and have saved, and I have shown when there was no strange god among you, therefore you are My witnesses, that I AM GOD. Before this day was, I AM He, and there is no one who can deliver you out of My Hand. I will work, and who shall reverse it?”
GOD is still writing in your baby book. We could say, "But Lord, look how old I am!" It doesn't matter, You're still His baby.
