The Secret Place
My husband rolls his eyes when we're going through hard times and I start singing in a very country, it's gonna be okay kinda way, "It's just another hill to climb on the way to the mountain top. This valley we must go through, with GOD we'll make it... me and you."
My cousin Amy was standing at our kitchen sink one day, washing dishes, and her little girl Emma Bella was playing with a toy while sitting on a sheet at her Mama's feet. Emma was playing happily until she got her finger stuck in something on the toy. At first she looked up at her Mama and whimpered for her to notice, but her Mama had already noticed and was watching her as she went back to washing the dishes. Emma still couldn't get her finger loose and began to whine as if to say, "Uh, hello.... Mom, can't you see I need help here?!" Her Mom would continually look at Emma, then get back to her task. Emma would try very little to get her finger loose because she wanted her Mama to rush to the scene and see it as an emergency, and free her immediately. When Amy continued what she was doing, Emma got louder with her grunts and groans. This time her Mama looked down at her daughter with compassion and very lovingly said, "I know! I see you and you're going to be alright."
Emma liked to come unglued in her every limb at this point, and when she just started to get mad and scream, her finger came out easily. Her Mama smiled at Emma and said, "See, you're alright." Emma started to laugh a little bashfully when she realized her "HUGE" dilemma was being watched by the one who really knew what was going on, and had it in control.
Dear Reader, if you are a child of GOD, He is watching, and is saying to you,
"I know! I see you and you're going to be alright."
There is a verse in Psalms that is so beautiful and helps me so much, as I pray it helps you: "What time I am afraid, I will trust in You."
I found out while reading Psalm 31, where the "secret place" is from Psalm 91. It is simply, in His Presence. I love that so much! Psalm 91:1 He who dwells in the secret place of The Most High, shall abide under the shadow of The Almighty." Woohoo! Psalm 31:12-21 I am forgotten as a dead man out of mind: I am like a broken vessel. For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life.
But I trusted in You, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.
My times are in Your hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.
Make Your face to shine upon thy servant: save me for Your mercies' sake.
Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon You: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.
Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.
Oh how great is Your goodness, which You have laid up for them that fear You; which You have wrought for them that trust in You before the sons of men!
You shall hide them in the secret of Your presence from the pride of man: You shall keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.
Blessed be the LORD: for he has shown me His marvelous kindness in a strong city.
