The Stranger in The Basement
Living in the basement of the sweetest, kindest man
Is a stranger full of anger and unforgiven sin.
Those who know the stranger have been hurt by his mean words;
For he fails to cast his ails and forgive wrongs that have occurred.
He is only mean when he’s reminded of his pain.
It’s a shame he is reminded of it, time and time again.
When he loves his brother and loves GOD, he is kind;
But when his heart is bitter, he hurts others & makes them cry.
The stranger in the basement gets mad at GOD sometimes,
Because he doesn’t understand what is in His Mind.
He also doesn’t understand the devil has a plan
To destroy, to steal, to kill, and torment all he can.
The owner of the house is puzzled as to what to do:
He wonders if he should pay the stranger a visit and tell him to move!
The stranger interferes with his daily prayer times with GOD,
With his cussing and ranting and raving, about what he hasn’t got.
Used to, the stranger could love everyone he would meet:
That is why harmful words can hurt him so very deep.
Rather than to kick him out, the owner of the house
Decides to pray for what to do, and when to do, and how.
While in intercession for the mean and angry man,
GOD speaks to the owner with a love that’s hard to understand:
“Tell the stranger, I will forgive him if he’ll forgive too.”
“My beloved,” GOD continued, “the stranger in the basement is you.”
Colossians 3:8 - But now you must rid yourselves of all such things as these: anger, rage, malice, slander, and filthy language from your lips.
Ephesians 4:31-32 - Get rid of all bitterness, rage and anger, brawling and slander, along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you.
James 1:19,20 - My dear brothers, take note of this. Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, for man's anger does not bring about the righteous life that God desires.
Psalm 30:5 - For his anger lasts only a moment, but his favor lasts a lifetime; weeping may remain for a night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.
Psalm 37:8 - Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret - it leads only to evil.
Psalm 145:8 - The Lord is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and rich in love.
Proverbs 15:1- A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.
Proverbs 15:18 - A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.
