Work Heartily

I read a funny story once about an out-of-towner who drove his car into a ditch in a desolated area. A local farmer happened by and stopped to help with his big strong horse named Buddy.
He hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, "Pull, Nellie, pull." Buddy didn't move.
Then the farmer hollered, "Pull, Buster, pull." Buddy didn't respond.
Once more the farmer commanded, "Pull, Jennie, pull." Nothing.
Then the farmer nonchalantly said, "Pull, Buddy, pull." And the horse easily dragged the car out of the ditch.
The motorist was most appreciative and very curious. He asked the farmer why he called his horse by the wrong name three times.
The farmer said, "Oh, Buddy is blind, and if he thought he was the only one pulling, he wouldn't even try!"
Jesus said, "My sheep know My Voice, and I call them each by name, and they follow Me."
Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.
Colossians 3:23
There have been times when The Lord woke me in the middle of the night with a great thought for me to write down; but I said, "Lord, can You hold that thought till morning, because this bed is mighty comfortable?" Guess what? He didn't hold that thought. I wonder how many names He had to call before the obedient one woke up and heeded what He said to do. I have since learned not to do that.
There is someone reading this who needs to hear this: GOD has chosen you to do something that seems totally out of your comfort zone, and something beyond your abilities. Yep! That's because He wants to reveal a deeper part of Himself to you so you'll get to know Him better, and see that it is His abilities in you that will accomplish His purpose if you'll be an available vessel. You might wonder why He isn't having Nellie do it, or Buster, or Jennie. If you wait for someone else to rise up and be bold like He is wanting you to be, you will miss out on GOD's plan for your life, and you don't want to do that.
